Comes from a family of swimmers – his father swam at the University of Cincinnati; his mother was a 7-time state high school swimming champion in Kentucky and a member of the 1974 USA National Aquatic Team; his uncle (Bob Ritter) was an NCAA All-American swimmer for University of Cincinnati.
